Daily And Monthly Rainfall Totals
I thought I would bring this back, but instead of a yearly thing it can be an ongoing thread instead of cluttering up the board with one for every year. I didn't include my snow melt as due to my work schedule I had no time or means to melt the snow. I hope in time to include some Chilliwack data to the historical section a co worker of mine knows the E.C. observer for Chilliwack so I hope to be in contact with him for some data.

Re: Daily And Monthly Rainfall Totals
I'm at 26.6 mm for the month, which is near normal for mid July (normal is 43.2 mm for the entire month). That said, it does not appear that the remainder of the month will bring much additional rainfall, so it's likely that I will end up below normal once again, for the third consecutive month.
May 41.0 mm (normal 99.8 mm)
June 31.5 mm (normal 74.8 mm)
July 26.6 mm (normal 43.2 mm)
Total of 99.1 mm vs. Normal of 217.8 mm. Percentage of normal is 45.5% assuming no additional rainfall in July.
The overriding story is that it's been a very dry year as a whole. The only above normal month this year so far is April. All other months are below normal, sometimes significantly.

Re: Daily And Monthly Rainfall Totals
With yesterday's rainfall I managed to add about 8 mm. That brings me to 42.5 mm, or basically normal. There is still a large deficit when looking at the last three months.

With only 439.4 mm, the period January-August in YVR is the 9th driest of all time [rain only].
Record is 363.4 mm in 1949, then 389.1 mm in 1985.

You are throwing out some big winter analogs there. 1949-50. 1985-86. Legendary stuffCanada Goose wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 1:30 pm With only 439.4 mm, the period January-August in YVR is the 9th driest of all time [rain only].

Re: Daily And Monthly Rainfall Totals
The records you show are lower than than the 439.4 mm. So is 439.4 mm a new record? Or did I misunderstand something?Canada Goose wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 1:30 pm With only 439.4 mm, the period January-August in YVR is the 9th driest of all time [rain only].
