Re: June 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Record breaking temps on Wednesday? Although these kind of temps don't seem too out of place in mid June.
On another totally unrelated note the Tropical storm risk.com is calling for a higher probability for a more active than nornal Typhoon season in the NW Pacific. Main factor is El Nino and an expected warm anomaly at Nino 3.75 in August and September, suppressing the trade winds thus creating a higher chance for cyclonic vorticity at this location which is basically the birthplace of the West Pacific typhoons. Not too happy with this forecast. I'll be in the Philippines for part of August and all of September.

Thanks Antares, I've passed this on.
Go I spent 1 1/2 hours in the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal this afternoon, it was hot! no thermometer on my car so don't know how hot but I sure wouldn't have minded some snow. Has anyone else noticed that cottonwood looks like snow? I love watching that too.

Got some pretty bad seasonal allergies so I've come to hate those pesky cottonwood trees. My worst enemy at this time of year.Roberts Creeker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 12:00 am Thanks Antares, I've passed this on.

What kind of plant are they growing? I only grow tropical plants so mine are indoors most of the year. Luckily, they are facing the south.Roberts Creeker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 12:00 am Thanks Antares, I've passed this on.

My thermometer peaked at 88F yesterday (Tuesday)... I'm looking forward to what today will bring. It's waterslides day as my son is having a birthday party there... Perfect day for it

Re: June 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Just hearing about water slides brings me back to the now defunct Mariners reef in west kelowna. Best warerslides in the province easily and with okanagan summers to boot. Anybody else remember that place?arbetrader wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:45 am My thermometer peaked at 88F yesterday (Tuesday)... I'm looking forward to what today will bring. Never been there... Have you been to Cultus lake waterslides lately? It's pretty wild - now quite a bit bigger than in years past

Yup. I remember that place since I grew up in Kelowna. I remember--and went to it--as a kid when it was called Wild n' Wet. And that of course was when West Kelowna was known as Westbank. But although I haven't been to the ones on Cultus, they look a little more adventurous than Wild n' Wet or even the waterslides at Flintstones in Kelowna back in the day (which is now a parking lot).

Re: June 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
30.9 at YXX as of 3 pm... that breaks their daily record by 2.4C. I'm sure they got even higher between reports.
The old record was 28.5C. Not too impressive, but mid-June isn't exactly known for heat records. It's more known for being overcast and drizzly, so records are relatively easy to attain given the right pattern.
