October 1984 averaged 8.8C. Will be some feat if we can best that but it's possible looking at the forecast.

I would not mind a repeat of that winter. Significant arctic blast in the first half of December followed by a moderately chilly first half of January.

'72-73 Was a strong El Nino though...so not a good analogue for this season.

And this is all "cool", and the dry air mass is nice around here..yet mountains peaks are bare up to 6000 feet considering a very chilly Octoberfest.

I was just coming here to comment on humidity. VERY DRY. We're talking under 20% relative humidity at a time of year where it's normally more like 70%. Kelowna was at 16% yesterday, which is about as low as it was all summer.

The humidity meter at BC's driest weather station (Ashcroft) died last month so it was likely closer to 10% there!

The morning humidity on the south coast is perhaps even more impressive. Dew Points below -10. YVR was at -11 and 34% last hour! YXX was -15 and 24% an hour ago!!

Yes IceMan. It's as dry in the Interior in some areas as it is wet in coastal BC. If you have not spent a significant amount of time in the BC interior, you don't get how dry it is. All our butties shud try to enjoy it up there..in all seasons. Quite the stark contrast only 3-4 hours away.

Well that's dreaming. But I do hope we go from blocking to Arctic High anchored in North Central BC this winter. And lock it in!
