That's what I assumed after I read the Komo forecast and they used the word " sleet".

2-4mm at most. Maybe 5-10mm Friday. Rainfall totals look pathetic and models develop an unusual 4 corners ridge. Eastern Wa, Southern Oregon, and California are going to burn this November.

Ok you young whipper snappers, It wasn't always like that. I grew up with the word sleet and never lived in the states , local tv weather forecasters always said sleet, don't know when the change to ice peliets happened exactly, probably somewhere in the last 20 years. That's my story and I'm sleeting to it.
Maybe John or Sardineman :gramps: can verify .
I know last year Global's Kristy Gordon said they were abandoning the term pineapple express in favour of atmospheric river.

A ridgy warm November? Might be the worst sign for winter

Or perhaps not.

California maybe but not much torching anywhere else despite the extreme ridging. Too late in the fall for any crazy warmth in the 4 corners region.

Canadian model to the rescue! :D

Though, looking at the 500mb pattern, it looks like dirty ridging.

No way man.... I've been feeling like this may be a 2008 redux... November was downright balmy, I hiked to the peak of cheam mid November, which would normally be insane. And we all know what December that year was like 😉

Atmospheric river aiming at the North and Central coast. Rainfall warnings up. It's a classic pineapple express. The temp at Charlotte Lake in the Chilcotin went from -16c last night to +7c this evening!
