Just setting up camp at Wood Lake rec site (Harrison West FSR). Hoping to get a good display tonight. Feels like 27 or 28 right now. Now to see if there’s enough signal to post this.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Easy drive, for some 4 wheel excitement should've went to Lookout lake, I remember a hair raising boulder to go over. Found some shell fossils on the way up. Have fun.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 3:22 pm Just setting up camp at Wood Lake rec site (Harrison West FSR). Hoping to get a good display tonight. Feels like 27 or 28 right now. Re: May 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
It’s now G5. This is close to Carrington Event territory. Should be one heck of a light show. I’m half joking half serious, will this affect my brain? Before you think tinfoil hat, I had DBS surgery in 2012. (Google can help you look up DBS surgery. Perhaps I’ll share more on a personal thread some pics and explain why I had it). If a G4 and G5 event can and has knocked out power grids and powered telegraphic systems in 1859, could it affect the electrical lead in my brain?

Fort Nelson now under evacuation order.tyweather wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 1:51 pm The holdover fires from last summer are springing to life. The photo shows a pyrocumulonimbus (pyroCu) cloud just east of Fort Nelson, BC. These are convective clouds produced by wildfires. Interestingly, this pyroCu cloud was not caused by a recent fire in the region, but from a holdover fire that survived last year’s fire season and has seen renewed vigour in recent warm, dry conditions! Per the BC Wildfire Service, the fire danger rating in northeastern BC is currently high to extreme. In the absence of substantial rainfall in the region, it looks to remain this way. This fire is 2000ha in size.

I was out watching from 11 - midnight, just amazing. Some muted colours but I never knew they were so bright. Just magical tonight. Another chance tomorrow too.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 11:36 pm from Ladner

Re: May 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Great show last night. Stayed up until a little past midnight watching it from the pier. I did not need to use my flashlight when walking back to camp even though the moon had set.
Will post photos once I’m back in town and have a better network connection.

Re: May 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
Last night was incredible for the lights. We might get a chance to see them again. I tried driving into Maple Ridge to see them, but the lights weren't really visible in the parts I drove to. When I drove home, there was a very dark field about 2 minutes from my house, and I was able to see them quite well. I will post some pictures later as well.
