I found a Centex down by the train tacks across the street form where they light the tree at Christmas.
Are you happy you left dodge for the Mission Hill top? smaller city far enough away from Abbs but close enough but lots of shopping over there like l said before l enjoyed Mission.
Not really. I would have rather bought the same house in Abby, but that would have cost over 1M if I could even find it. This one was under 900K, so I'm happy with that part.

I would have struggled to find a house with a similar lot size, privacy, elevation and view in Abby.

Just wondered l remember you mentioning several years ago that the Guilford aea would have been your choice to return to but of course house prices over there are absolutely insane now.

Yeah, Fraser Heights would still be my choice. I hope to retire there.

Mission is a nice town. Better than Abby in a lot of ways. It's just that I don't have a compelling reason to be there. No work, family or friends there.

FH is still an excellent area. Too bad it's such a rip off in this area. My parents moved out of FH in 2010 to live in the Shuswap area for 10 years. When they realized how difficult it is up there especially in winter they regretted selling their place in FH and now they moved back down to the LM and the only place they could afford was Chilliwack Sardis area. Sad. What a loss. I was always angry at them for selling in FH. They paid about $350000 in 1998, sold around $700000 in 2010, and now last I looked the house was around $1.4 Million. Absolute insanity. I've been renting in FH since 2010 so I can't leave because my rent is still reasonable. New rentals almost double, but I find many gougers and greedy people just following the crowd.

My parents paid $103K for our house in Fraser Heights in 1989. Older rancher on 1/4 acre surrounded by forest. After my dad passed away my mom sold in 2003 for 250K.

I also remember the RE crash in 1997/98. Brand new homes in the area around 154 St and 110 Ave starting at 189K.

I forgot to mention the house my parents bought in 98 was a brand new house that was just finished being built.

Speaking of that crash, I recall condos and townhomes in Surrey being around $64000 !! Like the ones behind T&T Market.
Of course this was all before corruption, offshore money etc ran wild.

Abby, is your old house still here in FH or did they remove it for more houses?

I bet that was a pretty nice house if they paid over 300K. Still seems like a bargain, though.

I believe it. I remember seeing older condos for around that price as late as 2003 when I was looking to buy. I ended up buying in Coquitlam though.

My old house has been gone since 2010. They cleared the forest all around and it's all big houses now.

Ah, there isn't much more room for new houses in FH. The area is pretty full now. A few older big lots that could fit some houses, but no actual subdivisions.

The last time to pick up decent priced homes was 10 years ago. In South Surrey houses went for $600,000-$700,000,now $1.5M just for the land. Bought our condo in 2014 for $270,000, now assessed at $670,000.

Back in the pond for a couple of day's looks like gas prices have spiked big time in the central valley from 155.9c to 160.9c, Abbs is basically 160.9c. Drove into Langley on Saturday and gas was 160.9c to 168.9c along the Fraser valley stretch. :wtf:

Yesterday gas in Surrey was $1.72 By the evening it was $1.67 and then I went to Langley and got gas for $1.55. Prices all over the place. Funny thing about the Langley prices was a literal block away the price was 10 cent higher and unknowing people buying gas for a more expensive price.
