What characterizes above all a change of air mass is the evolution of the dew point. The temperature evolves in a second time.
By the way, Lytton has had a foehn effect.
Very dry air further east.

Massive snowstorm in the valley back in Nov '96. Surrey east thru Hope got hammered with that one on the 16th and 17th. Decent snow totals for Vancouver as well but the valley really took the brunt of that storm.Snowed_in wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 5:36 pm Can somebody who was there talk about November 1996? I feel like that one gets lost in the mix thanks to its Far bigger/more memorable follow up event in December that ranks as one of the all time greatest. But the numbers looked impressive for a mid November snow event.
Can we do a redux of Nov and Dec 1996 in 2019?Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 5:39 pm Massive snowstorm in the valley back in Nov '96. Snow totals ranged from 5-10cm in Vancouver to 10-20cm in Coquitlam with up to 30cm in Surrey...about 30-40cm in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
Ah yes 1996 Nov. Mark Messier played for the Knucks my son was born that month, it snowed (wet) the day after we brought my son home. We had thunder that month too. And we hit a high of 17c at YVR that month. It's Nov. 1985 that takes the cake.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 5:39 pm Massive snowstorm in the valley back in Nov '96. Yup she said that too.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 5:51 pm 18z looks interesting by day 10. Massive push of Arctic air into northern BC. The upstream ridge isn't amplified enough to deliver it south to the PNW however....it's nice to see the potential is there for a classic arctic blast rather than these backdoor type events of late.
Nov. 85 was way better Jr.
