It is...by mid Feb. Models are pushing that ridge square over us though. Foggy and cold morning with highs near +12C with sunshine in the afternoon? Sign me up!

So a warm February unless it’s a cold one. Got it. :quezt:

Honestly...no one forecasted a warm west and cold east considering all long range modeling had a west based trough with persistent positive heights off the GOA.

This pattern development would mirror what we saw in 1999-2000...Which for all intents and purposes was a snowless -ENSO in the lowlands.

You nailed this whole winter. Except for when you called for a cold Feb. THEN you got finally something wrong.

Even the cold in the east is looking pretty transitory. Hopefully everyone ends up warm.

It will be what it is. I gave up on model riding some years ago. Simply leads to disappointment more often than not, so why do it?

If February ends up being a dud, I will look forward to camping again.

I'm choosing to learn the hard way. Lets see if next winter I remember that lesson  Part of the problem this winter is that there is literally nothing else to do other than watch re-runs of your favourite sitcom, or in my case playing game after game of online chess (No I haven't watched Queen's Gambit).
Its so predictable that this would happen in the one year where a good winter would've done so much good for so many reasons.
