Warnings
10:57 AM PDT Tuesday 16 August 2022
Heat Warning in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster
Metro Vancouver - North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley
Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta
A stretch of hot weather is expected.

Threat: Daytime high temperatures of 29 to 35 degrees Celsius inland and near 27 degrees Celsius near the water. Early morning low temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.

When: Wednesday and Thursday.

Remarks: A strong ridge of high pressure will bring a short lived heat wave to British Columbia. Temperatures are expected to moderate on Friday.

The hottest time of the day will be late afternoon to early evening.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

So what's the actual temperature criteria for the heat warning, 30°+?
It'll be interesting to see if YVR down to White Rock reaches 30°

Criteria was changed this year. It's on the low end for sure.

For Southwest – Western Metro Vancouver including the North Shore, City of Vancouver and Richmond, Howe Sound, Whistler, Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island (except northern sections):
Issued when 2 or more consecutive days of daytime maximum temperatures are expected to reach 29°C or warmer and nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to fall to 16°C or warmer.


For Southwest inland - Eastern Metro Vancouver including Coquitlam and Surrey, and the Fraser Valley:
Issued when 2 or more consecutive days of daytime maximum temperatures are expected to reach 33°C or warmer and nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to fall to 17°C or warmer.

Not tooo bad next cupla days (i hope). The worst part is the L of 16-17c those 2 nights ughhh. In the Similkameens, it is often 36-38c daytime, then down to L of 12-14c :thumbup: :thumbup:
