Biggest factor is ground temps IMO. Would have been much better had this snowfall occurred following a week of subzero temps

Measured 4cm on the fence... some has obviously melted It really picked up at around noon and it hasn’t stopped since 6 am.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:19 pm I'm in central Ladner by the village and we have about 3-4 cm on my back deck, hasn't really stopped at all since 6 am. snow is light but wind has picked up a bit so it seems more intense that it probably is.
It is wet snow but it’s still snow and the houses, trees, and side streets are covered. So not a bust for me at all. I’m just impressed it’s been snowing all day so far and still going.

Glad to hear you're happy but many of us in better snow microclimates always have higher expectations. Threading the needle is so borderline today..well it is the WetcoastSunnyinLadner wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:41 pm Measured 4cm on the fence... some has obviously melted It really picked up at around noon and it hasn’t stopped since 6 am.

Heavy snow now in lower West Van...looks like radar returns (which are very reflective of the heavier bands of snow shown on the models right over Vancouver proper) are as good as it's going to get right about now so last chance to score today..

Take 1c off temps all around today since 4am and it would be much different out there right now. Any snowfall above 0c always struggles to accumulate around here unless we r getting dumped on like a seagull crapping on someone

This. I've seen snowfalls during the day in April yield higher accumulations than this event...all down to precip intensity.

Re: February 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Its been snowing wet snow all day here (I'm close to the water) very wet and heavy, roads are covered in slush, looks like bigger flakes coming down now though.
Must be in the next wave, heavier band of snow incoming and really sticking. Its hard to say how much snow there is, its been melting quickly too. (Maybe 3-4cm..or 8cm!) Accumulating much faster now.
I've shovelled the sidewalk three times so its not a nightmare later on. Won't be fun on the commute home for some, its a big slushy mess over here...but love that its been snowing all day snow!!!
