9:52 AM PST Monday 23 December 2024
Special Weather Statement in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster

Series of storms to affect the BC South Coast and Vancouver Island this week.

Monday, December 23rd: A low pressure centre off the coast of BC will bring strong winds beginning this afternoon. These winds will intensify through the evening and impact western and northern Vancouver Island. Late in the evening the winds will increase through the Strait of Georgia and the Strait of Juan de Fuca and impact East Vancouver Island including Victoria and areas near the water of Metro Vancouver. Wind warnings have been issued for regions where severe impacts may occur.

Coastal areas of West Vancouver Island may experience flooding due to storm surge. The system will move out of the area before Tuesday morning.

Wednesday, December 25th: A powerful frontal system arrives on the South Coast and Vancouver Island early Wednesday morning. Very strong winds and heavy rain are expected to last until late in the evening.

Thursday, December 26th: A weaker low pressure system will approach Vancouver Island late on Thursday and spread strong winds across Vancouver Island and the South Coast overnight.

Weather warnings will be issued if necessary as confidence in the storm tracks and impacts grows.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

I have officially canceled this year's 7th annual old farts snowfall contest due to no snow most likely this winter. :cryhard:

Models underestimated the snowfall for Southern Ontario. Looks like they could see 15cm!

Move  if you want cold and snow!

Think this will help our snow situation??? Or does it have to be local? Can't find my weather manual for the fine print.

Our time will come later in Jan and/or in Feb. Probably will see some more foggy days in the interim.
