My spouses parents...completely different.
I like pretty much any tropical fruit except papaya and durian...mostly because I could never get past the smell.

Well, the Aleutian low refuses to die on the 18z. Will someone take it out back and have it taken care of?

The Aleutian low is like the annoying aunt that comes over. They plan to stay for 2 weeks but 2 weeks turns into months and they become super annoying and hard to get rid off.

The east got hit hard first in 2019. We all know what happened in February that year. Don't lose hope yet.

Honestly wouldn't take much adjustments to make this much more favourable for us.

Ok. Its time to calm down people. We will get something before its all said and done. I cannot believe how many times I've seen this winter compared to likely the worst winter in modern history where ski hills barely even opened.

Read again. I never compared this winter to 13-14 or 14-15. I was referring to the pattern shown on long range 18z GFS which looked similar to the dominant pattern during those winters....cold east and warm west.

Reasons not to give up on winter yet:

1) Long range uncertainty. Pattern change not expected until at least the 20th, which is still 2 weeks away.

2) SSW causing models to struggle with the upcoming pattern change.

3) Even with all of this, there are still strong signals for a -PNA/-EPO/-NAO in the ensembles.

4) We are in a -ENSO/+QBO state.

5) Its only January 7th and February has delivered as of recent.

When looking at these five points, its rather perplexing that anybody would think winter is over. But each to their own.
