Haha dude. We know this. We’ve been posting and using maps for years. We post maps for entertainment because this is a weather forum after all.Nordelian wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 6:56 am Don't use 10:1 ratio maps - use Kuchera. During borderline cases, the snow ratio will be much less, so 10:1 maps show misleadingly high totals.
It's almost better to use the snow depth maps because those factor in the rain mixing in that will also eat away at totals.

Currently 2.7ËšC after a low of 1.3. Not planning to post any more maps this morning: we are now squarely in wait and see territory.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Enough of model maps, that is. Radar shows moisture is about to hit. Looks to be light to start. Heavier stuff will take a while. Probably why the models don’t show the snow levels getting super-low until noonish.

Lates NBM is probably the most realistic for today. Even all of this will be gone by the late evening.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
I’ve been one of the more bullish on snow going into this thing, and even I think that’s the most likely outcome, unless you live on Burnaby Mountain or the Westwood Plateau.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
I think places above 100-200m will get a quick 2-5cm this afternoon before it transitions back to rain.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Not sure I agree. I've seen lots of people post stuff like "models said I would get 10 cm...only 2 cm on the ground... Bust!" When in fact, it was just them misinterpreting the model output...

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Well it begins. Light snow falling up on my elevated dirt mound. Looking across the inlet seems it is snowing almost right to sea level.
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..
Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.
