I miss this Nito.......wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 3:56 pm Seeing Hope at -2C at 3pm in a sunny afternoon without a deep arctic airmass is unreal. Looks encouraging for the Valley.
Models seem to indicate a stronger offshore surface flow tomorrow which could mean more snow than rain at SL.

I see precip over point roberts.
The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

I think we revert back to the now cast disclaimer 9 out of 10 snow events.

Plenty cold enough. Precip intensity seems a bit more problematic at this point for much of the lower mainland

That is where our low is forming for tomorrow, hopefully!wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:41 pm Look at that popcorn like development due west. Some atmospheric instability?
Some potential convective activity has been modeled behind the initial front.

Great video!AbbyJr wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:24 pm To be honest, while I do believe Nito's post towards WeatherPro went a little too far in terms of respectful joking, I also believe that WeatherPro at least somewhat had it coming. After all, just prior to Nito's comment, WeatherPro had said that he belongs in a mental institution and told us all not to listen to his forecasts.
So essentially, WeatherPro tells Nito he belongs in a mental institution and that we should ignore his forecasts.
Then Nito comes back and mocks his forecast as a joke. This offends WeatherPro and he threatens to close his account and stop posting.
Are we seriously turning into the American forums in terms of unnecessary drama?
By the way, I thought this short video would be relevant.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
If this is the case, then the models will likely get it wrong and it could easily over perform.

You are 100% correct. Weather Pro made an incredibly rude and confrontational comment to Nito, and then whined when Nito did much less in return. Classic example of being able to dish it but not take it. Gotta have much thicker skin than that.
Weather Pro's snow bias can be fun for sure, but I haven't noticed him be particularly accurate over the years.
P.S. my friend texted me to say it is 3 degrees and lightly raining in Ladner.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I can smell it to Leighbugs...I just don't tell anyone, people think I'm strange enough as it is I was thinking when I was outside at about 6pm that it didn't smell like snow but it felt like snow, that quiet, nothing is stirring feeling. I spend a lot of time outside and can smell rain coming in. I've never thought about smelling the different months/seasons but it is true, they do smell different.Leighbugs wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:48 pm It smells like snow outside. Sometimes people wonder what the heck I'm talking about when I say that. Maybe it's because I'm so in tune with the weather but I can smell seasons, if that makes sense. I know most people know what summer rain smells like, etc, but I can smell the most subtle changes in the air. Like, even a cloudy day has a smell but it differs depending on the time of year. Anyway, maybe it's weird? When I say I can smell February, or drizzle or even sunshine in November, people look at me like I'm nuts, including my own family. But it definitely smells like snow outside.

Have warmed up to +0.2 from 0.0. I'll take my flashlight to bed so I can check out the window when I wake up in the middle of the night.
