Radar looks like there is a little spin of low pressure over southern Vancouver island.

No snow here this evening. A few mms of cold rain. 3.3C. I didn’t mind missing out on this event. I’ll save my snow for a little later in the season.
I enjoy my power.

850mb temps hover between -2c and 0c on the mid and long range GFS ensembles. Would roughly translate to 1,000-1,300m snow levels.

Don’t move over here then. It goes out pretty often. Pretty common to have it go out for days at a time on the west side of shawnigan lake. Though, a lot of people have generators.

That's a pretty broad area of steep pressure gradients...

Do you have a generator? If not, what made you decide not to invest in one? Just curious

Days at a time ? Wow. Interesting enough the power really doesn't go out here, at least for me. I haven't really had the power go out that much maybe two times in the last 6 years.

Komo:

By Thursday, the rainy, breezy weather makes an assertive comeback, and by Friday night, we are looking at the possibility of a MAJOR wind storm here in the Pacific Northwest. A very deep area of low pressure will be tracking across the Pacific, and so far the forecasting models are bringing this storm into Vancouver Island late Friday night. This is a set-up for winds gusting 40 to 60+ mph throughout Puget Sound. Now, this storm is a ways out, so it could lose steam or change course as the week goes on, resulting in very different weather conditions. We will keep you posted along the way!

We don’t have one. We survive just fine when the power goes out. And we have a wood stove for heat. We live in 1 of the better neighbourhoods for power outages. They tend to last less than 24hrs even in the bad storms. I have considered getting a generator, especially now that we have kids, but I’m holding out for now (they aren’t cheap)
