Indeed EL Pineapple Milton will no doubt go through an eyeball replacement but become possibly larger and a tad weaker. No doubt pray for the Tampa Bay area this is the absolute worst case scenario for landfall in Florida if it stays on the south side of the eye the storm surge will be perhaps catastrophic.

Interesting skipper Gimpers l heard Loons on Deka lake up near 100 Mile years ago early in the morning just before sunrise awesome sounding.
Can't say l've heard any while camping over the years in the interior since.

My sister has a house in Port Charlotte (in between Tampa and Fort Meyers) and as of this morning they are forecasting a storm surge of up to 15 ft. They dodged a bullet with Hurricane Helene but are looking at a direct hit on this one. Thankfully they are in Ontario at the moment but always head down the weekend after Thanksgiving.

showed up last night, a good 48 h after it was originally predicted, clouds were just thin enough around 10 last night to reflect the light

Nice pic! I looked a few times and all I saw was cloud :(
I've seen it a few times though and after May 10 it's pretty hard to get excited about a bit of colour on the horizon.

early/mid October ridging will pump up the temps this week to above normal. A chilly troff will really drop the temps, IF we get one after the ridging...later this month :dunno:

according to the spaceweather site there was another rather long CME released yesterday, so we should have another chance to see aurora later this week
