More like you rigged the results so you won! haha!Bonovox wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 2:23 pm With that said, Bonovox was the closest with the lowest deviation from the actual temps. Yay me!
I probably screwed this up in some way, so feel free to look into the data and rescore, but I tried to be as diligent as possible while fending off a 4 and 3 year old.
PS thanks for adding it up!

I think we all underestimated the scope of the heat, that's for sure.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 4:10 pm Thanks Bono. I'll happily take second. That 10 on Victoria's Monday really screwed me over eh? I thought the marine push would get to them a whole day before us. So wrong.

Re: June 2021 Heatwave Contest!
Thanks so much. However, I'm really bad with numbers. Can you explain what the numbers below each user mean? There's four rows and three numbers per row. What do they represent? I apologize for not being able to understand something that should be self explanatory.Bonovox wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 2:21 pm Okay! So, I did a preliminary scoring of the heatwave contest. So far, I only did those posters who got their picks in on Friday night for all 4 locations. Those users were Bonovox, VanCitySouth, Typeing3, AbbyJr, Roberts Creeker and Leighbugs.
I used this Environment Canada's historical weather site to score: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/historica ... ata_e.html
Using that site, these were the highs and lows:
YVR
32/18
31/19
32/20
YXX
40/18
42/21
43/22
YYJ
36/17
38/21
39/21
YKA
41/18
44/19
46/21
Finally, I marked the deviations from those temperatures for each user for each day:
VanCitySouth: 47

5,3,2
4,5,10
3,4,5
Typeing3: 54

4,6,6
AbbyJr: 98

9,8,10
11,11,10
Roberts Creeker: 50

6,3,2
4,6,5
6,6,6
Leighbugs: 52

Re: June 2021 Heatwave Contest!
Don’t apologize, Jr. I should have clarified. Those numbers are how far each user was for that day’s temperature. Each row is for YVR, YXX, YYJ and YKA. For example let’s say you predicted YVR to be 32/18 and they ended with a high and low of 30/19. You would be off by 3 degrees. I hope that helps.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 6:32 pm Thanks so much. However, I'm really bad with numbers. Can you explain what the numbers below each user mean? Thanks for running the contest and scoring it! It was fun. Also congrats on your win! Well done!Bonovox wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 2:21 pm Okay! So, I did a preliminary scoring of the heatwave contest. 3rd place and I did better than EC, that's an accomplishment! I really didn't think the heat would be as bad as it was and guessed accordingly.
