Hah. Phil is eating PNW smoke. That makes me slightly amused after he kept falsely insisting it was going to be troughy in late June.

I don't know if I see any true heat in the models but I suspect we will have some bouts of warmth and lighter smoke towards the end of the month and into August. I do also wonder if we will start seeing more fires pop up along the coast as things continue to dry out.

Just as a heads up... there are a couple small ferries on that route when crossing the arrow lakes.
Thats a very scenic route but a significant detour. Beautiful area though.

Hwy 6 is no longer a good option. The town of Fauquier was just evacuated and that is the east side of the cable ferry on that route. Needles to Fauquier south of Nakusp.

You could bypass Fauquier by taking 3 all the way to Castlegar and then take 6 north to Nakusp then continue north to revelstoke.

Or take hwy 3 to Cranbrook then 93 north to Golden. If I wasn’t in a rush I’d go that way.

Some photos I took of the fire in Osoyoos.

Started as just a small puff of smoke and grew rapidly yesterday afternoon.

Another new fire, this time in Sicamous, now I also have a relative who has been affected and given evacuation orders. It is my sister's summer home, they have packed up and heading back to their main home in Vermilion, Alberta. Apparently fire started from a car crashing into a power pole which caused a transformer to explode on highway 97a.

Ya, A vehicle fire outside of Hope at the Hwy5 & Hwy 3 junction almost went out of control as well. Not hearing any news on that if it was fully put out.

1.35 million hectares burned that summer. Currently BC is probably around ~350 000 hectares.
