Next week does look fairly chilly. Not much precip but snow levels will be low and some people will probably see some flakes in the air.

Long range models continue to show that Big NE pacific ridge sitting a little too close to us. Pretty good chance we see it reconfigure in our favour at some point if it remains a consistent feature through February. I’d be surprised if we don’t see another brush with arctic air before spring

They also finally show precipitation! 6z and 12z GFS show some arctic air in the clown range.

Definitely some model struggles with the pattern next week. Both the GEM and GFS operationals are substantially colder than their ensemble

850s get close to -10C on the euro with the trough next week. Not bad. 🥶

Any cold with low DP's is welcome here because this fog is ridiculously thick and damp.

Inversion has become pretty shallow the past couple days. We are above it here at home. Wall to wall sunshine the past 2 days.

Microclimates in full effect here. It was sunny in North Van and Vancouver yesterday while fog remained East of the Burnaby/Vancouver border. Today is the first day this week where I can see full blue sky but a solid layer of fog below 50m still exists towards the E.

E Surrey looks to be completely socked in.

Wow that is impressive amount of ice on those branches. I noticed some frozen water droplets but nothing like that.

Wow. Here in the urban heat island, it has yet to hit freezing during this inversion.
It's called clown range for a reason.
