Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
The January 18/19th, 1943 snowstorm was pretty epic as well, especially for the valley.
75-100cm+ of snow in Hope, 60cm+ in Agassiz, 60-100cm in Chilliwack, 50-70cm in Mission, 40-50cm in Abbotsford, 40-60cm in Coquitlam, 40cm in New Westminster, 50-60cm in North Vancouver and 35-45cm in downtown Vancouver.
Not sure what the setup was exactly but it seems like a colder version of the late November 2006 event. Temperatures hovered between -1c and -10c for the duration of the storm in Metro Vancouver and between -4c and -14c in the valley. In the following days, YVR recorded a high of -10c and lows dipping to -16c.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Here's some pics on Dec 26th after the heavy wet snow that fell (I arrived just after it stopped)
Lucky I didn't get stuck (and I have AWD with Blizzaks), it was stupidly wet and heavy snow.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Really puts into perspective how dull our weather is around here most of the time. Yawn. That said I am grateful we don’t experience true extreme events such as tornadoes. But a little excitement would be nice.
EC is calling for rain except snow (not wet apparently) over higher elevations tomorrow evening.
We’ll see.

Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..
Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a few tornadoes every few years.Pomoman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 7:59 pm Really puts into perspective how dull our weather is around here most of the time. Yawn. The weather here is insanely boring. The most non-boring weather here is snow and we know how often it snows here. It's just how it is in he lower mainland.

Hmmm, fake info. hidden identity. Smells like trout to me. need to get Gumps to have a run over to the Similkameen to have a look.
The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Unfortunately the 2017 forecast was a huge bust as it rained instead of snowed and then was dry.
