or maybe due to extreme disappointment and to honour Nito's positive and uplifting support to the snow lovers on here, we should call it instead

Temps as low as -5C for Northern Florida. Daytime highs struggle to reach 0C. Daytime highs only near +9C for Miami

Snow over the Gulf of Florida

Could be a very snowy setup for the Great Lakes and Eastern US.

AbbyJr wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 4:06 pm Based on what I've heard, it seems that the PDO's effects on the upper level patterns are very much debatable. Some say it does affect it while others say it's just a result of the past ENSO conditions. Since I'm not an expert in this area, I don't have much to add to the discussion.
There is a lot of debate, mainly because it is a more "recently" identified oscillation and by recent, I think that it was climate studies at the University of Washington which first published about the PDO in the 1980s? In any event, for those that are interested, this is a good precis of what they understand about the PDO AT THIS POINT. Science is always subject to change.

Latest Euro AI slides the ridge East around Days 9/10. Things then look to turn a bit active with a few decent storms moving through.\\

Quick look at the latest GFS shows a similar idea, perhaps slightly delayed.

Last night's extended GEFS Ensemble seems to be mimicking what the Euro weeklies are showing for January.

Called it a few days ago. We could see some impressive temps being on the western edge of the ridge. Direct southerly flow with decent mixing....sky is the limit next weekend. Could see a few +18 to +20C by next weekend.
