Shot from the top of the Abby Grind Wednesday morning. Elevation is around 475m I believe. We live in a beautiful corner of the world!

Close! Reached +7.5C here today.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 5:37 pm High today was 4ËšC. Now 2.8ËšC and falling.
Nito, what happened to that 8ËšC high?
Heavy rain coming in now should scour out the remaining cold air.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Thanks for asking Jr. We had to move her today to get MRI imaging at a hospital in van. From what we understand, she is stable. She is going to need pelvic surgery. The real concern here is that a CT scan revealed some irregularity in her spine between her neck and her shoulder. If its irrepairable then game over, but we're hopeful thats not the case. She has movement in all her paws and can feel pain.
This is obviously going to be costly AF but I have the fortune of being able to do some side hustling with my F-I-L's handyman company to earn most of it back. I'm desperately hoping that the first week of school is called off for a quarantine week because if all goes well, she'd be back at our place and pretty much immobile for two weeks. Then I could take the next week off and stay with her before she starts to get back to moving around on her own and I could hopefully go back to work.
She has survived the first 36 hours which is honestly the biggest thing and gives me hope. I know it seems insane to spend this kind of money on a doggie but its not just a doggie. She's a farm worker now. We've trained her with all the animals which is an exhausting feat especially with our lack of expertise. She actually has a number of issues we've been dealing with like weird psychological quirks that lots of aussie sheps have.
Anyways...I feel better right now than anytime since the accident so thanks everybody for your concern. I will try to update as things hopefully improve

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Weather Cafe update sounds like there could be some white surprises for us:
https://ovs.com/wx-cafe
The New Year is looking to be quite the weather ride. Let’s peek.
Rain & WIND will be key, as back-to-back, sometimes COLD systems will begin to slam into the PNW. Early in the period (Jan 1-3) the systems will be the typical on/off rain-with-mountain-snow type. Windy, esp over OR. The next series of storms that will carry HEAVY RAIN and feet of mountain SNOW should begin late Jan 3 or 4th, and ride on by through Jan 9. What will be quite interesting is that the air mass associated with these storms will be cold enough for rather low snow levels, at times, esp for areas north of Chehalis. Surface WIND will be almost non-stop and notably strong for days at a time, esp across western OR. That should ‘hold-up’ snow above the surface in western OR. We are not seeing an Arctic Blast pattern on the horizon, just cold enough air to tease out snowfall at lower elevations, at times. PLENTY OF RAIN, so localized flooding will be a concern (good thing some of the moisture will be trapped as snow in the foothills/mountains).
Ponder Point: long-range models charts for upper-level global wind circulation are beginning to show an interesting & impactful (if verified) pattern change. One that places a dome of High pressure over Greenland (think relatively warm) and, consequently, COLD clover-leaf LOWS over the western area of the US and England, western Europe. Whoa. Could be quite a January Winter for millions globally. The PNW included. Hence the pattern presented above on the charts for early January. WIND SOCKED, because we will be slapped around with rather strong winds for days. SNOW in the mountains could be simply amazing because it would be measured by the FOOT on a daily basis.
All this is a ways out, of course, but some will remember we pondered a very wet period, turning cold with low level snow north of Chehalis way back in our Nov 30th discussion - the long-range models were darn near spot on. Ask anyone in Lynden - The White is on the ground is beautiful this Christmas Day. Bottom line: it will turn very stormy to start 2021, with the potential for news-making wx here in the PNW. Be prepared.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad you're feeling better and that there are positive signs. Hopefully her spine is repairable.PortKells wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 7:53 pm Thanks for asking Jr. We had to move her today to get MRI imaging at a hospital in van. Did the vet give you any percent chance that the spine is repairable?
