I'll take the June 2021 heat dome over 10-15c rain in the middle of summer.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:45 pm Yeah , natural vitamin D sucks...oh how I long for the depressing and never ending days, weeks, and months of rain and overcast skies.
In recent times think back to July 1st-3rd, 2020. Horrifically cold and rainy: Source: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... imeframe=2

The PNE is historically rainy, which is funny. This year seems to be different though.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:50 pm I'll take the June 2021 heat dome over 10-15c rain in the middle of summer.

The models are showing a "cooldown" of mid to upper 20s followed by low to mid 30s in the middle of next week and another cool down after that into the weekend.
I'm having a family "reunion" picnic in Vancouver the following weekend of the 21st with seniors in their 80s. Hopefully it's cool enough.

Ah yes, the good old PNE rains. It's pretty cyclical actually.stuffradio wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:54 pm The PNE is historically rainy, which is funny. This year seems to be different though.
If I recall correctly there was an especially long streak or several years in the 80s/90s (even some years in the 00s) when we had many cool/rainy days toward the end of August, which is why many who lived or grew up around here around then have associated rain with the PNE. By contrast, most late August periods during the years in the 60s/70s and in the 2010s were mostly warm and dry.

Re: August 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Nice summer climate, but definitely not enough yearly precip.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:55 pm https://www.kelownahomes.ca/blog/moving-to-kelowna.html
Prefer Mediterranean precip patterns, like we have here. Would be nice if it was more extreme with plentiful precip during the cool months and dry during the warm months coupled with a continental climate-like temps. Adding a couple degrees to summer temps and subtracting a couple degrees from winter temps it would look something like this actually: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazama,_W ... on#Climate

18Z Euro is a bit less bullish with the storms tomorrow. Still moves through some thunder in the evening, but not as widespread or sustained. Stay tuned!

Marine layer days have definitely become few and far between. Maybe that is my confirmation bias at play, but even my wife was saying that the other day.
