It was shaking my place near SFU 20 minutes ago. It was so long and sustained that I wondered if it had been a high-amp positive cloud-to-ground strike. I guess that bit of daytime heating this afternoon energized the atmosphere enough. Or is this another deformation band like in May.

Heard another big rumble now. (6:56 pm) Not as loud though, and nowhere near as long as the first clap of thunder. A third, softer rumble at 6:58.

Heavy rain here. Ironically it's fairly clear north towards the mountains

Coming up from the south. Looks like several cells and heavy showers to our West too. But ,wow, down in western Washington it looks potent. Another large band of storms and heavy showers moving onshore there following the large band they had this afternoon.

Mostly dry here today. Cloudy and quite windy though with temps around 14C midday.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Port Moody is getting pounded by high-amp positive CGs. An 83kA CG (!) near Mundy Park and a 50kA strike near Anmore. Those were the strikes I heard. This could be an all-night affair, something I haven't seen on the South Coast since 1999. It wasn't even that hot or humid today!

Edit: Apparently there was a 130kA positive CG near Queensborough an hour ago? I surely would have heard the thunder from that one.
