He'd need to be marked departure from Stephen Harper for me to considering voting Conservative. On the other hand, the competition isn't very inspiring either.

Add in Maxime Bernier to the mix, and the Conservatives will be looking at a fractured vote on the right similar to what we saw in the 90s with the PC's and Reform.

With the up coming fed. election I should be paying more attention and I shouldn't be basing my thoughts on what my co workers are saying about Scheer compared to Trudeaudope.

Andrew Scheer wants to repeal and redo Canada's gun laws. One of the conservative members on his team wants to reclassify the AR-15 as a hunting rifle and remove the ammunition restrictions. Do these politicians really want to turn Canada into the US?

those politicians and their supporters seem to want it yes; I can only assume it's a mass case of cognitive dissonance

I realize Canada has a different culture than the US, but at the same time, I do firmly believe in common sense gun control and I don't think we need AR-15's easily accessible to the average civilian not to mention without any common sense regulations. That said, I am not in favour of a lot of what Trudeau has done either. Suffice to say, I can't say I'm a Liberal or a Conservative because both parties have stuff I agree and disagree with. You can't have the best of both worlds unfortunately. I really have no idea who to vote for in the upcoming election. I shall wait for the campaigns to begin and examine all sides.

I've voted for both Liberal and Conservative at the Federal level. with both parties just left or right of centre it really comes down to who you think has the best team going forward. I'm not happy with Trudeau's recent bumbles, in fact pretty cheezed that they haven't spent the promised $$ on infrastructure. having said that Scheer makes Zuckerberg look animated when both of those have that 1950's scifi robot thing going on, nor does he have any platform that I have seen that is beyond saying the opposite of the other 2 parties. very frustrating and I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be holding my nose to vote no matter which way I choose this year

Even with the news breaking today the polls are still neck and neck. I generally don't support the liberals but it would be silly to write him off before the election campaign even starts.

I would say that's wishful thinking. Very few people vote on how ethical a politician is. Trump won the Republican nomination and then the presidential election despite widespread beliefs that he was the least ethical candidate.
My prediction: Trudeau Liberals win a majority again, but don't win the popular vote.
