Hound wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:58 am Another dud. What a joke. SO MUCH lightning from southern Oregon all the way to Bellingham and then it fizzled.
Even when conditions are prime, we get screwed. I'm starting to think there is some type of weather modification going on at the border.
Ya too bad. It looked pretty impressive just South of here.

Still raining moderately with 18.3 mm in the gauge.

Apparently it got pretty windy as well since some stuff on my deck had blown around.
I think I’m a few blocks from you. Same: I was awoken by thunder a few times. Heard a heavy downpour at one point along with the wind. Power went out at 4 for about 20 minutes. I checked BC Hydro and there were 40 outages reported at the time.

It was a spectacular light show from a distance. Unfortunately we saw too much wind shear aloft...with less verticle shear. Knew we were screwed when the precip arrived before the actual thunder/lightning.

Am I the only one who got a pretty decent thunderstorm? Like it was LOUD here in the middle of the night.

Perhaps another chance at some :storm: this afternoon?

Looks like things are starting to fire off south of here and on the Island.

Suns is out... maybe some assistance from daytime heating?

Or maybe we just get sweet f all like usual.

I think the ULL is too far offshore.
Cold NE winds have started here.
Too dry.

Oops. I'm reading off the winter script.

Yes a few branches down here. Managed to get an inch of rain out of the storm. Sunshine now. Did get 20 minutes of lightning but no fork lightning, just sheet.
