Did anyone crack 30 degrees here (lower mainland BC) yesterday?

The year without summer...

This isn't true, lol. The last two days have been between 23 to 28°C across the Vancouver area in June, which is above the normal average temperature for the month of June. People have just forgotten what a real summer feels like due to insane heat waves and heat domes!

It's been only three years since the deadliest weather event in Canadian history (600+ human deaths, untold animals and ecosystem death) scorched the PNW. The day after an entire town burned down, the beautiful and historical Lytton. Then we sucked on noxious and continuous smoke fumes which gives people horrible health problems including people here on this forum.

And despite all that, you'll see people wishcasting that exact weather again. Never fails to boggle my mind.

Every few years we still manage to eke out a half decent, average stretch of summer weather and people act like its the Day After Tomorrow. After this few days of beautiful sunshine I can't wait for a bit of rain! Going to be so refreshing.

This is normal weather for us in June. If anything, we are running a few degrees above average each day, which is great! I cannot, for the life of me, understand why people are cheering for extreme heat. It does not make sense considering how we lost lives and sustained so much damage. It is utterly selfish, but what can you do? 23 to 29c degrees and sunny is perfect; there's nothing to complain about." !!

I like this cooler and wetter! I'm pulling the hoses out tonight so I can water the pastures. It's mostly sand ere so it drains really well, great in the winter, not so great in the summer.

High of 29.5c yesterday, and 30.5c this afternoon in east Coquitlam. Nice summer weather!

Unfortunately there is a view out there that certain demographics aren't really a big loss given they were heading out soon anyways. However I view it as the way they went out was terrible and unnecessary - no AC in senior's homes, no extra ambulances (shoutout to EC's ultra conservative reporting on the event in the face of overwhelming evidence) and a lack of care for those who need it the most.

Seniors suffered immensely and yet I've never seen so little reporting for such a dramatically tragic event right here in our back yard. I vividly remember seeing an old couple suffering in the parking lot near Colussus, like they had nowhere else to go. The whole thing left a pretty disgusting taste in my mouth. Some of that can be blamed on lack of extreme heat history here but that's where you need to believe in the science to make proper decisions moving forward - there WILL be more such extreme events and it's a matter of time.

I guess the question you could ask yourself is :
What am I doing to be a positive influence on the people around me especially those in need of extra help!?

Sorry that I’ve been MIA. In Lacombe, AB for a family reunion. About 40 of us. Significant thunderstorm last night. Fair and dry today. First time in my life I’m surrounded by fellow Oil Country fanatics as we watched the game. As with everything family reunion here, we’ll have a large fireworks display tonight. Faith. Family. Food. Firearms. Fireworks. Oldest two kids having the time of their lives.
