Can earthquakes work to shake up the large scale weather pattern?

Nothing of interest for the WxCafe this week
We tip our Mugs in remembrance of a dear friend, Dr. Chad Finn, USDA-ARS Small Fruit Plant Breeder, who lost his life last week in Hawaii. Words don’t even come close.

Drier conditions, along with a chilly air mass, will be on tap for the next few days. A weak system (actually two, paired Lows) will spin south just off the coast of WA, OR on Tue & Wed, so a few showers are possible, along with snowflakes at higher elevations. Most of the precip will present in CA over the holiday.

We have been expecting rain to return to the PNW right after Christmas, but that has changed. The recent model solutions indicate Patrons on Vancouver Island may get some precip and wind Thu the 26th, with the rest of us on tap for a rapidly-moving system to bring rain back on Sat & Sunday, Dec 28,29.

The year will end with a weak system again clipping Vancouver Is and dry conditions (fog in the usual places, too) for the rest of the PNW. California will experience strong wind issues. All the rain we expected after Christmas has left the charts. Excluding the minor rain mentioned above, any threat for notable rainfall largely remains in play north of WA & south of OR between today and Jan 1. Just remember, often the models bring back earlier predications. Anyway, models are trending dry on New Year’s Day. We still see a return to blustery, rainy conditions early in January. Ponder Point: will that return start January 3 or as late as the 7th?

“The warmth of a home is not necessarily determined by its heating system.”

Merry Christmas, Patron.

On a more positive note, Dec. 26 is only 3 days away. I hope John is right.

Earlier today, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of B.C. after a 5.7 and a 6.0 magnitude earthquake. Prior to that, there was a 5.2 magnitude earthquake earlier in the morning.

Ahhh three 6.0 earthquakes today? Should we be worried lol
