Sometimes in June like last year, yes. We've had something like 15 straight warmer than average summers and the majority of those were dry. I know you keep saying how rare dry stretches are here but outside of winter I'm just not seeing it. Two straight driest springs on record? Followed by last year's top 10 warm summer (with a bit of rain thankfully) and now this summer's mind blowing heat wave and drought conditions. This is becoming the norm, not a rarity.

Also generally cool and troughy conditions effect both the coast and the interior so given that connection, warm and dry here will mean warmer and drier there outside of maybe a few passing thunderstorms in the interior. If we can get rain here then the interior should get some as well. That in turn would prevent more Lyttons from happening.

This is all a result of global warming. So keep in mind its going to keep getting warmer and drier and that means less snow and cold in the winter.
We get plenty of rain from March to October.

As we have discussed here plenty of times there is frequently a disconnect between observations at YVR versus the rest of the region.

To that point... I recall seeing a fairly large discrepancy in precip both last spring and this spring over there in comparison with pretty much every other station. If Spring 2020 and 2021 were also the driest on record at every other station across the lower mainland, then you have a point but that statistic is likely only true for YVR.

Let's also not forget that last year was relatively cold and wet well into mid July. A bit less pronounced, but so was 2019.

Just like snow...always near the end of the run. Tyler said there might be some end of this coming week mainly north and east vancouver island. Fingers crossed it over performs.

I want rain, I like rain and if it doesn't rain, all of you sun lovers will be happy...so win win.

The year is more than half over, and Kelowna has had just 38.8 mm of precipitation. Way back in the 1920s they had one 6 month period with just 80mm, so this is less than half of the previous record.

BTW, here is a list of the driest years ever recorded in BC...

20s and 30s were very interesting here, weather wise. More continental flavour to our climate even out here by the coast with those long dry spells, wicked winter cold spells and a few significant heatwaves.

Call me crazy well say it to yourself. :shh:
Had my vehicle in the shop for some work.
I jokingly said my outside ambient air temperature reads too high.
It was always 2c too high, the shop said we can get the electrical tech. guy to look. :o o.k. l said.
Now it seems pretty good.
Ah! the things we do as weather idiots.
The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

Looks like Roberts Creeker will get a bit of rain, but the rest of us are out of luck. August is on track to be a smoke fest, only a matter of time before offshore or southerly flow brings in some of that stuff. We need a region wide soaker, but that isn't happening.

0.6mm to break the streak at YVR would be pretty disappointing. Would rather get a good 20mm and reset again.

To be clear, ONLY the Nav Canada station is not reporting, which it has only reported I think 3 days in the past 2 weeks. The other station is up and running... https://weather.gc.ca/past_conditions/i ... tation=vly

Fire activity really ramping up this evening. So many plumes of smoke going up on the visible satellite. The southern interior is 1 big wind storm away from a devastating fire storm. Very serious situation
