Correct all around. WHA was a rival league paid unheard-of at the time salaries (Bobby Hull was an astronomical contract of 1 million, the first million dollar hockey player). And of course, the league folded in 1979 so the likes of Howe, Hull, and Gretzky came over to the NHL.

The 1972 series was an event that could never be replicated. It was one of the most exciting one-time events like Woodstock that can never be copied. I wasn't even born yet, but I know how special it was.

Oh for sure Glace it's like anything else in life they try to replicate like the original Halloween movie they tried to bring back Michael Myers 13 times that's like marrying your X 13 times over.

The Americans sure are unbearable right now. Gotta hope for a 2010 repeat where we lost to them in the group stage and won in the final.

To get to the final... Mondays game vs Finland is a must win. No room for error at all now.

I thought Binnington was pretty solid in this game.

Missing Makar and Pietrangelo as part of the D-core is also a blow.

I remember just how bad he was watching the Canuckles games back then l got use to loosing l guess it's something you get climatized to like our lack of snow and crummy winters. I didn't realize he played in Pittsburgh and Philly.l think my hair looked like that must have been the style then. A little dab will do yah.

Dunc Wilson's playing stats in the NHL include ¹ ²:
- *Games Played*: 287
- *Wins*: 80
- *Losses*: 150
- *Ties*: 32
- *Shutouts*: 8
- *Goals Against Average (GAA)*: 3.75
- *Save Percentage (SV%)*:.883

He played for several teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, and Pittsburgh Penguins, between 1969 and 1979. Wilson never appeared in a Stanley Cup playoff game throughout his career.

Great win! It's still our game...

And I must say, Binnington came in clutch when it mattered most. Well done! 8-)

Indeed Tgold l was a doubter l will eat crow. :x excited for next year's return of NHL players to the winter Olympics l wouldn't be surprised if Russia participates if the war in Ukraine wines down. And will probably participate in the next nations cup event l can see them adding a couple more countries perhaps.

Yup, the much maligned Binnington saved their/our bacon, especially overtime, he should've been 1st star, sure, McDavid scored the winning goal, but was invisible most of the game, bad passes and fumbling the puck. Poor Matthews, had a great game but left McDavid wide open in the slot, instead goes towards his leaf teammate Marner.

I envisioned JT Thriller potting the win for team U.S.A. and actually thought perhaps McGteat for team Canada.
