What's wrong with it Gooser? at least it's not stuck on the tower.
The rain gauge appears level at least, the stevenson screen could be moved over further on the grass.
Where's the wind tower?

The anemometer is up on top of the building on the right side of the last picture.
I don't like the rain gauge because it doesn't measure precipitation when it comes as snow... I think? For that you need one of these...

PS. My dad grew up on Gonzales Hill, just beside this station.

Poorly ventilated. Not enough room around the station. Too many bushes, etc. Fortunately, it's a windy place.
Yeah, the bushes should be trimmed back indeed.
It is a shame how quality control was waned over the years automation has taken away jobs as well as accuracy. Now a day's if a station goes down it's not fixed the same day.

It's crazy to think that back in 1947 when Canada has a fraction of the population and an even smaller fraction of wealth that little tiny Snag had several meteologists stationed there... http://www.heidorn.info/keith/weather/e ... ife-80.htm

Nice read Glace of course being war time l'm sure all eyes were on the north for possible invasion of enemy troops.

But imagine if we had a big a$$ war today with Russia, and we sent Tyler Hamilton, Johanna Wagstaffe, Mark Madryga, and Mia Gordon to the front lines to keep an eye on the Russians!

yeah, the article mentioned there was a radio room so l'm assuming it was used to monitor the enemy or air traffic.

Nice surroundings for accurate temperatures, precip. might be hindered by large trees causing shadowing.
