Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
This is expected.
Cold stays in AK/Siberia for most of Dec. I have a feeling a block will develop in the Western portion of North America come Jan with a Greenland block in place leading to a persistent cold pattern for the Eastern CONUS. Lots of snow for the Eastern seaboard and SW US.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
We are overdue for a dud winter. The law of averages combined with a post Nino crash would lead to a very different outcome in 2024-25. May be worth it!

Neetz hasn't updated his script in a few years.
Although this year the odds are more in his favor.
But let's not give up hope yet!

Another very interesting GFS run. Always a good sign when it keeps coming back.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
I'm assuming he is talking about the blocking? Doesn't look very favorable for us at the moment?
Edit. I do see the potential for more 's though.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
The creeks and rivers are almost at the flood stage. But western Washington is getting even more. Some areas over 10 inches (250mm). Major flooding expected on many rivers in Western Washington..They got it worse than us.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
It is interesting as I get older, I still LOVE snow, but care less and less about the let downs. The Nito propaganda machine doesn’t quite get to me like it once did.

At least the swamps and ponds across the South Coast are doing well. Hopefully more rain falls across Vancouver Island too.
