The smoke is much less this morning. The wind kept the temperature pretty mild last night. It was 21.9C at 3:11 am, which is nuts for Sept 10th. It's currently 21.3C after a low of 16.3C.

No outflow winds to speak of here overnight. Got down to 11.4ËšC.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: September 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Some meso guidance suggest surface temps in the mid Valley reaching 33-35°C which is ridiculous for this time of year.

Re: September 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Huge industrial fire in South Vancouver has led to thick smoke encasing most of Metro Vancouver this morning. Really bad AQ in South Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster. Additional smoke from the fires is currently approaching from the east as well.
Improvements in AQ coming on Monday eve.

Re: September 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Cool , thanks T3. Seems like a large property on corner of Columbia and Keil st . , 2.7km from my place. And only a few blocks away from my secret free parking spot , one of the few blocks in white rock where it's not resident parking only, especially this close to the beach, 2 blocks from East beach. If anyone wants to avoid pay parking and doesn't mind a little bit of walking it's on Ash and Finlay ,just up from Columbia.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:00 am https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... tionID=925
Data for White Rock station. You can see the exact latitude and longitude of the station near the top. Putting that into google maps, and you get this location: https://goo.gl/maps/yr44GdZE4sqUnerQ6

Re: September 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Alerts for: Metro Vancouver
Statements
12:20 PM PDT Saturday 10 September 2022
Special air quality statement in effect for:
Metro Vancouver - NE
Metro Vancouver - NW
Metro Vancouver - SE
Metro Vancouver - SW
Smoke is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility. Smoke is expected or occurring.
Metro Vancouver is now issuing an Air Quality Advisory for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley because of high concentrations of fine particulate matter that are expected to persist through the weekend. Elevated levels of fine particulate matter are due to smoke from both wildfires burning in BC and the US and a fire burning in Vancouver at a wood recycling facility.
Wildfires burning southeast of Chilliwack and Hope, including two fires near Manning Park (Heather Lake) and Hope (Flood Falls Trail), are producing smoke that is impacting the region. Today and tomorrow, additional smoke is expected to arrive from the south, further degrading air quality.
Additionally, a local fire burning in Vancouver at a wood recycling facility is also producing considerable smoke which is trapped near the surface by an inversion. Smoke from the fire is impacting multiple municipalities including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Surrey, and Coquitlam.
Smoke concentrations may vary widely across the region as winds and temperatures change, and as wildfire behaviour changes.
If you or those in your care are exposed to wildfire smoke, consider taking extra precautions to reduce your exposure. Wildfire smoke is a constantly-changing mixture of particles and gases which includes many chemicals that can harm your health. For more details, please consult www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-ch ... smoke.html.
For more information on current air quality, visit www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/air-land-water/air.
Visit www.airhealth.ca for information on how to reduce your health risk and your personal contribution to pollution levels, as well as for current and forecast AQHI values.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

Any idea how to stop the forum from constantly logging me out? Too much of a hassle to use at this point. Had to log back in between these 2 posts

A bit off topic but I see in your signature you're one of the authors of the "Weather of British Columbia" book. That's great! I've borrowed that one from the library on more than one occasion.Nimbus2 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 12:01 pm Close up view here - https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/?parms=s ... =undefined
