I'm sorry man. I didn't mean to annoy you. I just want to see the tension go away, I have a lot of negative tension in my life right now and I come here for a release and I keep seeing this happen over and over. Its avoidable if we just realize that we all come from different perspectives. Rubus just said he comes from Portland which would be an absolute soul-killing place for a snow lover, can you blame him for having an overly cautious perspective?

I mostly lurk in the background here, but I wanted to comment on this. I totally agree with your statement above, Rubus is just doing what others do here, gives an opinion, forecast, and commentary. It’s kinda the point of a message board.PortKells wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:29 pm IMO you guys need to stop responding like this if what has been said has annoyed you. There are allowed to be conservative and pessimistic posters here. He may be right, may be wrong, it doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is WE WILL FIND OUT WITHIN 24 HOURS! You have to also realize that people might hedge their bets to protect against the disappointment of a snowfail because it can be really facking disappointing when it happens!
Rubus has been right a few times, wrong a few times. The tone of his posts have been pessmistic but by no means antagonistic. I for one stand for his right to say what he's saying whether its right or wrong. That part for me doesn't matter whatsoever because time will always tell us.
Having said that I really enjoy yours and Stormer's posts but I'm just going to call this one like I see it because its becoming a drag.
From what what I have seen, Rubus does a decent job at explaining with specific details as to why he believes a weather scenario will happen. I find this more way more interesting and helpful than “I believe it will snooooowwwww â€Â. But who am I to say what people can post? I enjoy almost every regular poster here, and find you all endlessly entertaining!

At least there won't be as much snow as there was in 1996 when that happened. I remember how deep the water got on some streets.
It's called clown range for a reason.

That's a bummer but unfortunately in line with what the recent Rgem said, not to mention climo rearing its ugly head.

I just want all perspectives to be able to contribute here. Should you have to back up your conclusions? I would like to think so. But at the end of the day we will find out so soon that I find there's no point in getting into serious arguments.Spuzzum wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:45 pm I mostly lurk in the background here, but I wanted to comment on this. Alternatively, we could create a separate thread where people can legitimately put their skills on the line. Hell you could even bet money on your forecasts. I would be an active participant in that thread if it were ever allowed

I am hoping to go tobogganing on Burnaby Mountain on Saturday, I wonder if it will be complete ice?

If we go above 5c and get 50mm of rain, be prepared for patches of bare ground along with the ice.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
This reminds me of December 1996 but with one major difference: December 1996 was a lot colder. But it's the same type of setup in that we have an atmospheric river interacting with arctic air.
It's unfortunate that we didn't see a storm like this back when it was -10C. Oh well, this has still been an awesome winter event and I still think tonight's storm has the potential to overperform.
