Ah yes Summer 09 who could forget it was our first Summer on the original forum and many members were going nuts with the record highs YVR pulled off it was epic indeed. All time record highs not once but twice. end of July 09.

I remember July'09 as pretty decent but then we went to Maui that summer. everyone thought we were weird but the trades there moderate the heat and the beaches aren't as packed so it was a good thing all around for us.

in particular I recall a pretty spectacular thunderstorm at SEATAC the day we flew out, takeoff was delayed a bit as the storm rolled through.

I'd love to see a good T-storm this summer!

I seem to recall a fair number of T-storms in the late 70's early 80's, when a big one would roll through late at night and no-one could sleep for the noise my parents would gather us in their bathroom which had a skylight, windows and was mirrored on 3 walls so the sight was spectacular :wlightning:

No rain with this one here. Maybe a trace overnight, could have just been a heavy dew.

GFS dumps a lot of cold air into western Canada starting later next week. We mostly remain in the cool and dry periphery of the trough

Man, I was hoping for some decent rain last night, but we got a sprinkle at best. Not enough to get the ground wet under the trees.

Good chance we rack up at least a couple more freezes before spring kicks into gear.

Really random question: what determines how many % a post gets per thank?

It's based on the maximum number of thanks a single post has received in the forum's history. The current maximum for a post is 12 thanks, so 1 thank equals 8.33%, 6 thanks would equal 50%, etc.

Translation: It's pretty meaningless. Most posts will have a low rating regardless of their quality.

I have a lot of gripes with the way the whole system is designed, but the best idea is just don't take it too seriously. ;)

Ya, don't put too much stock into worrying about the percentage thing. The main reason for the thanks option is just for thanking. Don't look too much past that. It's because the modification was built like that by someone, so we can't really change it. If something better gets released we could replace it.

*Actually I was checking in the settings and it looks like we could disable the % rating. The thanks by users should still be displayed.
Is that something people want? The % part to be disabled?

What was fascinating Terry David Mulligan lived afew doors down in a basement suite with his wife, l remember seeing him a couple times and saying hello. He said hello back l was only 10 or 11 at the time he was working at CKLG back then before going to CBC radio back east. CFUN and CKLG were the hot rockers at the time. I use to ride my bike over to CFUN on west 4th ave. I was interested in radio and sometimes l would be allowed into the control room it was awesome times. l met Annis Stukus if anyone remembers him he coached the B.C. Lions at one time and did sports for CFUN after his coaching days.
I wouldn't doubt if we crossed paths back then. We moved to Vancouver from Montreal in the summer of 69(just like the Bryan Adams song), we lived for a few months in a 4plex on 7th ave and pine street. That summer we walked to Kits beach almost everyday , spent a lot of time at the old salt water kits pool, where the depth of water was dependent on the ocean tide. We then moved to 17th ave and Heather street ,it was at the local park that had tennis courts where I learned and honed my tennis skills at 12 years old with a friend. After a couple of years entered some tournaments and joined the tennis team at Eric Hamber high school.
I guess my brush with fame was when I played 2nd year bantam for kerrisdale minor hockey , had end of year banquet and Gary(suitcase)Smith was there to hand me the MVP trophy. :D Actually I just remembered I got called up to midget for a couple of practices(no games),Mark Taylor, Cyclone Taylor's grandson was on that team , he went on to play a few years for the Philadelphia flyers.
Another memory of kits beach , it was Aug 16, 1977, I was lying on the beach and listening to my transistor radio either cfun or cklg when the stunning announcement came that Elvis Presley had passed away.

Maybe. There's also a percentage displayed beside the thread listing, I think it's based on the number of thanks in the whole thread. Would that also be disabled if you disabled it in posts?

I thought last April was wet at 123 mm, and it was...but what happened april 2017? 173 mm?? Not to mention March of that year with an incredible 309 mm of precip. That whole spring was whack.
