Let's not dive into the human caused climate change debate here please. I've already been asked by one of the mods, and have respectfully agreed to refrain from discussing such controversial and divisive issues.John wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:08 am https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2019/08/ ... t.html?m=1

Has anyone watched the Perseid Meteor shower? I haven't yet but when I thought of it, it was overcast. Might try tonight, it's clear here.

Re: August 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
We’re going to check it out in a bit. I remember seeing a really good show one year when we were driving up to the Cariboo late at night. Stopped at a rest area outside of Cache creek, where it is really dark.Roberts Creeker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:29 pm Has anyone watched the Perseid Meteor shower? Re: August 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Did you see any? It's usually dark here except for the almost full moon. Haven't seen any yet...but then I got stuck inside doing dishes, etc. Maybe tomorrow night.

Re: August 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
15 minutes and not a single one. Moon is really bright and it’s reflecting off a few a high cirrus clouds. My wife saw 1 earlier. Not too exciting. Might be better after the moon goes down later overnightRoberts Creeker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 11:51 pm Did you see any? It's usually dark here except for the almost full moon. Re: August 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
It was 2010 when my wife and I drove to somewhere on Chilliwack Lake Rd to watch the Perseids. Clear + newish moon = 37 in about an hour.

Re: August 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Not too bad for the PNW/SW BC so far this year. No huge torch, but some spots slightly above normal.

Re: August 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
The progression seems similar to 2016. All models were predicting an El Nino and backed off later in the summer.
