Yes, very good point. Some say Vancouver weather has 2 seasons: Rain and Summer
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for :silent: ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing? :silent: :silent:

I enjoy Winter and Spring because of the increasing daylight and the transitioning to warmer weather. I don't like Summer as much because of the decreasing daylight. I enjoy temps between ~20-28.

Or rain and less rain, lol.

Vancouver's rain is overrated. Try living on Haida Gwaii or Prince Rupert. It actually rains there in the summer, whereas we get a few drops in several months.

Next dry stretch (and there will be one eventually), will be warmer than any weather we've had to date (and the longer we have to wait until it happens, the later in the season and therefore the warmer it will likely be). It will feel like spring then! Then the rain will come back.

The warm-up in the spring is the opposite of the cool-down in fall. Then, the transition to frequent storms and cooler temperatures typically happens quite suddenly. Spring is more of a gradual process. I like it that way. We really do have a spring season here, with temperatures intermediate between winter and summer. In the Rockies, it was much more a lurching between summer and winter. Mid-20’s C one day, snow the next. That sort of thing.

My mother grew up in the Midwest and would have dreams about snow falling on blooming lilacs. She always thought they were silly dreams, and wondered why she never realized she was dreaming because obviously by lilac season it is too late for snow. Then we moved to the Rockies….

Amazing to see how busy we were with posting in Dec and then winter left and so did all the people posting (minus Sardineman) It shows what a crappy short winter we had. I mean at least it was good for that one week, but c'mon.

Pretty much the same story even here. Yes it is colder and drier here but eastern BC is still under the same general patterns seen in Vancouver. I think after the last three winters, I am done looking at analogs, indices, and other such data as it doesn't seem to be very reliable.

It was 7C and mostly cloudy today, so a nice early spring day. Would've liked more sun though.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Yup totally agree. 10 days of winter and a cupla slush festivals. So sad. And to start the season off it looked so promising with an early shot of winter and then after that just nothing :bang: :bang: :bang:
