I was home for lunch from elementary school, l saw Henderson's goal what a moment l remember like it was today.

51 YEARS AGO TODAY a nation stood still - cheered, and wept.
What grade did your elementary school go to? I was watching the game in the lecture hall at Eric Hamber high school, grade 8, and yes during lunch hour.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 8:14 pm Ah the memories Skipper Gimpers can you remember where you were?

Yes we moved 3 times in 5th grade from 64th and Victoria to North Rd. Coquitlam finally finished school in March @Henry Hudson down in Kitsilano ended up repeating 5th grade 3 schools in one year doesn't help not making excuses but it was a tough school year especially loosing and making friends that year but l survived Skipper Gimpers.
Yeah, probably wasn't easy, in our era they liked to crack the whip literally and figuratively, now there's no strap or flunking allowed, you get an A just for showing up, and after school your parents reward you with I-pad time and 58 snacks.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 7:16 pm Yes we moved twice in 5th grade from 64th and Victoria to North Rd. That's true Skipper Grumpy way more disciplined back then but good times overall.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:38 pm Yeah, probably wasn't easy, in our era they liked to crack the whip literally and figuratively, now there's no strap or flunking allowed, you get an A just for showing up, and after school your parents reward you with I-pad time and 58 snacks.
I'm thinking so. That's Bruce Gamble who played for the Leafs from 1965/66 to 1970/71. Traded to the Flyers and the next year suffered a career ending heart attack. He was one of the last players to play without a mask, and the last Leaf to do so. Andy Brown and Gump Worsley played without masks until 1974!SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 7:10 am Crazy no mask era.Nice shot though.
I’m pretty sure this one was taken in 1970 at MLG’s. I’ll leave that to the experts to figure out any guesses Glace.?

I know King Richard made a lot of big saves but those numbers are not flattering, canucks must've won a fair amount of high scoring games.Glacier wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:51 pm I'm thinking so. Speaking of Gump, I listened to this Don Cherry Grapevine podcast about him two days ago... what a character!
BTW, 2 of the top 9 NHL goalies in history were Vancouver Canucks. I'm measuring how good a goalie is by how much better their playoff save percentage was compared to the regular season...

To be fair Dan Cloutier and Sean Burke are the worst and 3rd worst goalies in NHL history for having much worse playoff save percentage than regular season.
The 1st and 3rd worst goalies in NHL history were also Canucks...Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:36 pm I know King Richard made a lot of big saves but those numbers are not flattering, canucks must've won a fair amount of high scoring games.
