Coquitlam finally finished school in March @Henry Hudson down in Kitsilano ended up repeating 5th grade 3 schools in one year doesn't help not making excuses but it was a tough school year especially loosing and making friends that year but l survived Skipper Gimpers. :shifty: :o

Yeah, probably wasn't easy, in our era they liked to crack the whip literally and figuratively, now there's no strap or flunking allowed, you get an A just for showing up, and after school your parents reward you with I-pad time and 58 snacks.

That's true Skipper Grumpy way more disciplined back then but good times overall. We found things to do not like now it's handed to kids to easily it seems.
Although with my son we limited his XBox time to go out outside and play with his friends.

Talk of Cole McWard and Phillip Di Guiseppe may crack the Kannots opening night roster. :o l'm disappointed Podkolzin and Hoagie haven't impressed in training camp, perhaps Hoagies shelf life is expiring.

I don’t recall this incident frightening nonetheless. l remember the controversial goal did the Lames score or not. :?
On May 1st in 2004, Detroit Red Wings superstar Steve Yzerman was struck in the eye by teammate Matthieu Schneider's second period slapshot in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semfinals against the Calgary Flames, falling the captain and silencing fans at Joe Louis Arena.

Yzerman endured a four hour surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone and scratched cornea missing the rest of the playoffs and subsequent World Cup of Hockey, during which Joe Thornton and Joe Sakic refrained from wearing number 19 out of respect for their injured countryman. Yzerman returned in the 2005–06 season wearing a visor.

Calgary beat Detroit that afternoon by a score of 1-0 and stole Game 6 by the same margin to win the series 4-2, before eventually losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning by one goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

"When I played in Montreal, my archenemy was Dale Hunter. On the ice, I hated him, especially when he played for the Quebec Nordiques.

He was a great player who scored an impressive number of important goals. But he hurt me a couple of times, hit me from behind more than once, and once blew my knee out.

I tried to hit him but I never really hurt him, not like he got me.

Once, I was coming across the blue line and was watching my shot after I had really cranked one. Then I woke up in the Montreal dressing room.
My first words were, ”Let me guess – Dale Hunter?”

I’m pretty sure this one was taken in 1970 at MLG’s. I’ll leave that to the experts to figure out any guesses Glace.?

I'm thinking so. That's Bruce Gamble who played for the Leafs from 1965/66 to 1970/71. Traded to the Flyers and the next year suffered a career ending heart attack. He was one of the last players to play without a mask, and the last Leaf to do so. Andy Brown and Gump Worsley played without masks until 1974!

Speaking of Gump, I listened to this Don Cherry Grapevine podcast about him two days ago... what a character!

BTW, 2 of the top 9 NHL goalies in history were Vancouver Canucks. I'm measuring how good a goalie is by how much better their playoff save percentage was compared to the regular season...

To be fair Dan Cloutier and Sean Burke are the worst and 3rd worst goalies in NHL history for having much worse playoff save percentage than regular season.

I know King Richard made a lot of big saves but those numbers are not flattering, canucks must've won a fair amount of high scoring games.

The 1st and 3rd worst goalies in NHL history were also Canucks...

Also, ever heard of Ken Dryden and Terry Sawchuk? Morons in goal! Yes, 10 cups between them, but they rank among the 20 worst to ever play the game...
WORST.png
I am, of course, using a bit of tongue and cheek because a lot of things can contribute to a bad save percentage in the playoffs outside of the goalie's control (namely, playing for the Vancouver Canucks... if you're lucky enough to make it into the post season).

Save percentage was really low in the 80s (especially early 80s), the lowest in NHL history, so Richard Brodeur's numbers reflect that. Even Patrick Roy's save percentage from the late 80s was below .900. Brodeur had some amazing seasons in the early 80s, taking the Canucks to the Stanley Cup finals in 1982. The team had no business making it that far, and only did so because of some stellar goal tending.
