Just in case EC changes their forecast:
Here was their 4PM update:
Rain ending after midnight then cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Risk of thunderstorms overnight. Amount 15 to 25 mm. Wind south 20 km/h increasing to 30 to 50 this evening then becoming west 40 after midnight except 70 near the Strait of Georgia overnight. Low 6

I'd say that 90km gusts were NOT in the forecast!

Incredible heavy rain and thunder in the lake city area of Burnaby right now!
edit-i don’t think in was thunder..... it was a tree falling on our vehicles.

Not a crazy strong storm but it’s deepening at landfall. They always deliver
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

Had some clearing a few mins ago with the strong S/SE winds but a wall of heavy rain is rolling through now.

Winds are shifting to the SW here now.

Edit: that was really quick. Winds coming directly out of the west now. Strong gusts continue; I'd guess in the 60-70km/hr range.

Had a wind gust of 60kmh now 12.c yeehaw! But look to the west temps. down to 4c on the island and 7c at YVR.

Believe I had some lightning along with crazy winds. Unless that was just transformers blowing across the water.
Wind is loud as heck.
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..
