Actually my question is Kona low or SE ridge which is needed more for Arctic air.?

I do remember reading that before. I do not recall the source. I think the reasoning was that it handles the tropics better. I’m pretty sure the GFS is not good with MJO stuff. EPS>GEPS>GEFS

It usually is.

I think a strong -NAO generally acts to suppress the SE ridge. Not entirely sure though.
