We just moved from valley bottom to 880 ft elevation in east Chilliwack. I had no idea all the lightning I was seeing near Abby was actually all the way near the island Until I looked at the lightning map :)

The GEM picked up this convection as early as last week. Impressive.

The 18Z Euro has scattered thunderstorms in the area through Monday morning.

I was just moving a few items into my new place on Burnaby Mountain (right at the top no less about 365 m) with a total north view and could see a good amount of lightning flashes in the distance. Definitely not a usual coastal feel to the air tonight

That said I cannot wait til winter. You guys keep saying MOVE when one gets screwed with snow. Well I did.

Suppose no more Pornoman moniker though.
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..

Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

Lightning getting closer per the lightning detector page. Fun watching distant flashes and seeing where they appear on the map. It’s ramping up people! No ones here.

Is the local sports team playing balls and pucks or something??
Yeah.

That is awesome it’s so great to have a view! We did the same thing at 270m even though that isn’t super high it makes all the difference in many of our snowfalls. Very excited for winter as well.

Well plus you have the added bonus of being further inland up the eastern valley. I suspect you will still get more snow than I will despite being a bit higher up.

Oddly according to Wikipedia Burnaby mountain averages slightly more snow than Chilliwack. Low elevations I’d have to assume. Hence why I’m sure you’ll have a good time.

Maybe with La Niña we will have marginal events that will work in our favors.

I saw a distant flash from Surrey out west. Some light rainshower now. Drove back from Vanderhoof today. It was 7c when I got up. It was 39c to 41c in the most of the Fraser Canyon and Thompson Canyon.

I've been able to see a lot of flashes over the last 2 hours. They seem to be to the west. Can't hear thunder though. Of course Nanaimo getting it's second big storm of the year. Can we have some action on the mainland? :x
