Recent summers which have had decent cool periods include 2016 and 2011.

2015 and 2010 both featured washouts in the last few days of August; I wouldn't really include those years as "wet", as the rest of the summer was hot and dry.

Our last truly cool/wet summer was probably back in 2008, so I suppose we really are quite due for one.

Since our average summer precip is already quite low, it would be highly unlikely to see wall to wall wet summer months similar to those which both Toronto or Montreal can get on occasion.

I remember we had enough summers with lousy weather at the end that the PNE was considering moving to July or something because of all the rain they would always get.

Ha! Kurtal! I remember that name now. I think he was a different guy from Nito but who knows. There were similarities.

I'm gonna pass on the Grouse grind crawl, bad on the knees,I'll need some time to recuperate from the gruelling snowflake counting competition, maybe lawn bowling or chess.

Yep, the "PNE Rains" usually feature towards mid and late August. Most years in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s saw this. In the recent decade it hasn't been as pronounced as it used to be however.

I'd forgotten how wet the 1990's were. :o

Too early for a trend to show in the 30 year average, but just 88 mm average for the last 10 years. Looks like the very wet 90's skews the average.

Next Mon and Tues still look mild but low level cloud and residual ground moisture may keep lower level temps from going too high. +14C is my guess.

Lots of signs that we may see another spell of cold for early April.
