Extended 00Z GFS isn't looking too shabby.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Interesting write up I found on Wikipedia discussing the pattern progression that led to the February 2019 arctic blast. I will quote it below.
Edit: Just looked at the 00Z GFS. Its coming mid January.
I wonder if we'll see a similar pattern progression this winter? If so we might have to wait until February again.Normally, the Northern Hemisphere jet stream travels fast enough to keep the concentration of Arctic air known as the "polar vortex" stationary in the stratosphere over the North Pole. From late December to early January, a sudden stratospheric warming event was observed over the Arctic, which caused the "polar vortex" to weaken and split into three lobes. In late January 2019, one of these lobes traveled southward and stalled over central Canada and north-central United States for about a week before the upper-level flow of the atmosphere directed it over to Western Canada. The influx of frigid air from the North Pole created high winds, and brought extreme sub-zero temperatures, further exacerbated by severe wind chill. Large amounts of snow fell in the affected area. Some have attributed the unusual weather pattern to climate change.
Edit: Just looked at the 00Z GFS. Its coming mid January.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
We had one of our dogs need spinal surgery about 15 years ago and it was a huge bill. The good news is she recovered and lived a full life. Rehab is tough as I had to basically teach her how to walk again. Good luck.PortKells wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:11 pm Thanks man. Its just money. We'll earn it back. The scary part is her spinal surgery on Monday. If we've spent over 20 k on her care and something still goes wrong, that's going to be a tough pill to swallow. But im staying optimistic. Nothing much more we can do at the moment.
Maybe the year was just truly cursed. We'll have to see if things turn around in this new year. It certainly hasn't on the weather front, it is fricking gross out there.
