Gas appears to be 185.9 in the central valley.
Seems to be holding in the 180's out here the last week.

Re: Gas Prices
No, the reason why gas is more now is because the "Clean Fuel Standard" plus the carbon tax. The carbon tax is 11 cents per litre and the Clean Fuel Standard adds another 15 cents per litre. The clean fuel standard is a carbon offset scheme that oil companies must pay unless they cut the emissions. Of course, they just pass these costs on to customers. By 2030 this will probably add 40 cents per litre and the Carbon tax 35 cents. No other province has this yet, which is one reason why the wholesale rackprice in all other provinces are much lower than here in BC. But it will be coming to the rest of Canada at the end of the year.

Re: Gas Prices
I've heard of that before, but I never saw a detailed accounting of the cost. It seems like they purposely make it as opaque as possible, maybe because people would be furious if they found out. That's interesting if what you say is true and it really does add 15 cents... that explains a lot. Who signed us up for that scam?Glacier wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 1:16 pm No, the reason why gas is more now is because the "Clean Fuel Standard" plus the carbon tax. Re: Gas Prices
I've calculated that a Honda Civic would only cost me $190 for the same amount of driving. I didn't mind so much when the difference between that and my current vehicle was only $60-70. I reasoned that it was worth the premium to drive a powerful, roomy vehicle. But it gets harder to justify when the difference is $110 a month. That's a big chunk of my budget.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 8:28 pm Wow that's absolutely insane Abby sr. I don't blame you,

Re: Gas Prices
I was able to fuel up in Abby land this morning @ 179.9c it's 182.9c in the central valley still.
Next it'll be cheaper to buy a motor home and park on the street or Walmart or rest stops like many are doing, what a mess things are becoming.

Re: Gas Prices
179.9 is not bad, but the profit and distribution should be about 5 cents per litre. At 179.9, it's 7.3 cents per litre. The Abbotsford average is 183.5 right now.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 5:35 am I was able to fuel up in Abby land this morning @ 179.9c it's 182.9c in the central valley still.

But check out Kamloops where they are getting raped big time with prices almost 20 cents too high!

Re: Gas Prices
Oil down again, stations keeping prices inflated so as soon as it goes up they can raise the price. This needs to be regulated! And Kamloops getting hosed is a prime example of gouging. Last time oil was $95 a barrel we were only paying $1.25 or less. Or how about during the start of the pandemic when it went down to $0.99. All of this is manipulation and BS.
