From what I've looked at, it looks like it won't get back to normal until Wednesday/Thursday.

Signs of improvement starting on Tuesday though.

Worst morning yet. Visibility was down to ¼ mile at KBLI this morning. Still can’t see the disc of the Sun, unlike yesterday.

Smoke and fog this morning. Great combo.

The smog also really kept high temps down yesterday and continues to do so today. Temps across the region are currently hovering around 13-16c.

Interestingly enough, while the smog has really impacted afternoon temps, it doesn't seem to have any effect at all on overnight lows. Temps still significantly cool as if it were clear overhead.

Environment Canada says the widespread smoke should become local smoke tomorrow (Monday morning.) Hopefully they are right.

Sucks. Now 4 of the last 6 summers have featured these smoke bombs. Adding in the covid restrictions, we've had 2 nice summers in 6 years that didn't feel like apocalypses.

Worst smoke I ever seen

I believe it was worse in those previous summers. Maybe because those fires were closer but this doesn't smell or burn as bad.
The firesmoke model had us right under a black cloud of 250+ppm but it backed off onthe next run. Very wide variations.

Interesting. I feel like its worse this time around.

Smoke in 2017 and 2018 undoubtedly lasted much longer, but most of the time it wasn't thick like this at the surface (had to go above 300m to notice a strong smell). Most of the major fires back then were at high elevations such as the interior plateau so the smoke was mostly confined to the upper levels and seldom descended towards the surface for long periods of time.
