Looking West from Coquitlam around 5:00pm..and the skies looked very angry!
And here it is..December 2024 all snow geeks have been waiting for :silent: ..with the LR weather "charts" calling for a cold and snowy month. Where's the troffing? :silent: :silent:

It was definitely looking stormy outside. I had a brief shower but that's about it as far as I witnessed while I was outside. It was a little blustery as well.

After this AR event the GFS has it pretty dry for the rest of the month..of course highly unlikely here on the Wetcoast for this time period :raindrip: :raindrip: (it is the GFS)

Look what dropped this afternoon:
4:13 PM PDT Thursday 17 October 2024
Rainfall Warning in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster

Heavy rain expected on Friday into Saturday.

Where: Metro Vancouver and Howe Sound and sections of the Sea-to-Sky highway south of Whistler.

When: Friday and Saturday.

What: Storm totals of 40 to 70 mm are expected in Metro Vancouver, 70 to 100 mm possible in the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and higher amounts potentially exceeding 100 mm over the North Shore Mountains.

Hazards:
- Water pooling on roads
- Swollen rivers and creeks
- Minor coastal flooding

Remarks: A strong fall storm system will direct an atmospheric river towards the South Coast, bringing heavy rain to the region. Rain will begin Friday morning and intensify through the afternoon and evening, with the heaviest rain expected Saturday morning and early afternoon. Rain should ease on Saturday evening, though a second pulse of rain is expected Sunday.

Ahead of the storm, ensure that drains are clear of leaves and debris and secure loose objects out-of-doors.

Keep up to date with the latest advisories from the River Forecast Centre at:
https://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/warnings/index.htm

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Latest model runs have significantly increased Saturday's rainfall totals for areas south of the Fraser. Looks very wet if current solutions verify.
