Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
This is still up for northern sections.
A weather system will bring a mix of wintery conditions from this evening to Monday morning.
Locations: Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley near the mountains.
Snowfall accumulations: Potential for 2 to 10 cm over higher terrain this evening through Sunday morning; 5 to 15 cm near Hope Sunday and Monday.
Rainfall amounts: Potential for 20 to 40 mm for Metro Vancouver and northern sections of the Fraser Valley including Mission and Highway 7 to Agassiz.
Other hazards: Risk of freezing rain over the Fraser Valley late tonight and on Sunday.
Remarks: A weather system will reach the south coast tonight bringing a mix of snow and rain.
Light snow is expected to begin this evening over Metro Vancouver. Overnight, temperatures will begin to rise as warm air advances from the Pacific. On Sunday morning, the snow will change to rain for Metro Vancouver.
Snow will spread to northern sections of the Fraser Valley Sunday morning, while communities closer to the US border including Abbotsford may only see a chance of flurries. The snow will change to rain Sunday afternoon for most regions, however the eastern Fraser Valley including Hope may continue to see significant snowfall into Monday.
Additionally, there is a risk of freezing rain in the Fraser Valley as warm air overrides the cold air lurking near the surface late tonight into Sunday.
Road conditions may quickly deteriorate as snow transitions to rain. Freezing rain may also make surfaces icy and slippery. Snowmelt from the anticipated warming and additional rainfall may cause water pooling on roads and local flooding.
Be prepared for rapidly changing conditions and take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

Clear signal for retrogression on the EPS. Back in the freezer in late January and early February?

I think +10 to 12C could be in reach if those winds verify.
Think compressional warmth!!!
These are snow eater winds.
