I don't think any officials ever actually measure the ice. there is no thickness they would be comfortable with.

We won't see something like this for years unfortunately.
Good idea, and yeah too much work though. Better to re-post or snag the photos and make a new post with them. I dunno. 8-)

Honestly it's a bit ridiculous, especially when there is historic photo evidence of people walking around on the same lakes during periods with less extreme cold weather. I even remember there being thin ice signs around at the lakes in Mundy Park (Coquitlam) in December 2008. They were ignored of course.

I'll repost all the tweets I shared here in that thread at some point. Better to have them there than getting lost in this thread.

That's wrong it's assuming there's insane outflow it died off. it looks weird like a river of barely any snow from Chilliwack down the Fraser to Richmond.

The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

I think someone's getting a bit worried that he might lose the 4th Annual Alzheimer's snow contest.

You should put your pineapples in the freezer, or simply throw it to your front yard where it will be buried by 25cm fresh snow by tomorrow morning!

but at least they are not actively chasing people off the ice or fencing it off...that would be dumb
