Ha, I see someone took my graph and improved on it... sort of... Fahrenheit should NOT be listed as 109.9F or 111.9F because those 1930s records were recorded to the nearest degree F, so would have been written down as 110 and 112 respectively. Alberta's is probably wrong, BTW. High, Goose?

Was mostly cloudy, cool with a few spotty sprinkles when I was passing through Cranbrook on July 30th, but I guess all it amounted to was a trace.
Ya, I understand there were showers around, but the airport only received a trace on a single day all month, and it wasn't even the 30th.
I'd like to know what the Port Mellon station looks like. Is it surrounded by trees? How else can you explain it having the least amount of wind of any station in BC (and also Canada)?

Ya, much of BC was much more thunderstormy in the 1980s than the 2010s. Williams Lake was slightly less.
1981-2010 average:
Williams Lake = 23.05
Prince George = 20.83
Cranbrook = 20.21
Penticton= 15.31
Fort St. John = 15.11
Kelowna = 14.55
Kamloops = 13.79
Abbotsford= 7.11
Vancouver= 6.10
Prince Rupert= 3.62
Victoria= 3.12
Nanaimo= 2.33
Oh yeah, pretty close. I might have gotten 8 from the 1961-1990 average, but I guess we're splitting hairs.
There's clearly been a decrease, but on the other hand I wonder how much of that could be explained by low quality observations. I swear there have been times when I was living in Abbotsford and there was clearly a thunderstorm in progress, but the airport was just reporting showers.
