Really hope to see the cut off down south strengthen and the block over us strengthen into a Omega Block in future runs. Want a 3-4 weeks of ridging! Put those lousy Easterners into the ice box

Bad news is that AK vortex is coming back to life as soon as day 5. It will be there for a while...only a matter of time before the ridge nudges further E and we see .

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
Where is everyone (EC) seeing even light snow before midnight? I'm not feeling at all optimistic about tonight through Monday night whatever the GFS says.
I will admit I'm not basing this much on evidence, so no need to throw model maps at me. I may just have a rumbly gut after New Year's Eve.

Agree. Temps aloft and the surface are moderating. Precip will likely start off as light rain tomorrow from the onset in Metro Van. +7 by tomorrow afternoon with heavy rain developing by tomorrow evening.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:04 am Where is everyone (EC) seeing even light snow before midnight? I disagree with the heavy rain. I don't see much in the way of snow OR rain.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:07 am Agree. Temps aloft and the surface are moderating. The latest CanSIPS seasonal puts BC into colder than normal temps from now through June. Think late blueberry crops and cherry blossoms! C'MON

Yes I agree. Looks pretty dry until the skinny, hung up cold fronts arrives. Maybe a few hours of rain then showers, flipping over to wet snow in the hills MondayVanCitySouth wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:24 am I disagree with the heavy rain. I don't see much in the way of snow OR rain.
